Senior Emergency Specialist

UNICEF seeks an experienced Senior Emergency Specialist to manage and implement regional initiatives, strategies, and activities in the assigned sector within the context of Emergency programming.

• 
  
• Formulate and implement cluster approach strategies for the sector in emergency situations
  
• Provide technical leadership and expertise for emergency preparedness and response in country offices
  
• Strengthen capacities of UNICEF and implementing partner staff in the sector through sharing knowledge and expertise
  
• Mobilize resources for sectoral emergency preparedness and response interventions
  
• Contribute to regional early warning and emergency preparedness efforts
  
• Deploy emergency response measures promptly and implement sectoral emergency assistance
  
• Mainstream sectoral emergency strategies in regional and country offices' workplans
  
• Coordinate sectoral emergency responses with governments and implementing partners
  

• 
  
• Advanced university degree in a relevant field
  
• 10 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in programme management and administration
  
• Leadership experience in managing medium to large teams
  
• Experience managing field offices and clusters, and familiarity with humanitarian programs and interagency collaboration
  
• Developing country work experience
  
• Specialized training or experience in emergency response management
  
• Fluency in English and knowledge of another official UN language or local language
