Job Title

A key position in the health sector, requiring a professional to manage and coordinate various programs related to disease prevention and control.

Programme Overview

The mission of our health emergencies programme is to assist countries in preventing, preparing for, detecting, responding to, and recovering from outbreaks and emergencies. Our primary goal is to provide technical advice on developing sustainable national strategies for improving health systems and capacity building.

  • Manage and coordinate expertise to facilitate efficient and effective management of health programmes.
  • Develop and implement plans for disease prevention and control interventions across the life course and continuum of care.
  • Coordinate the adoption of norms, standards, guidelines, and tools to support disease control projects.
  • Manage operational aspects of research, surveillance, epidemiology, and health surveys.
  • Facilitate project implementation, including setting priorities, monitoring workplans, budgets, and team performance.
  • Document and disseminate best practices and partners' experiences.
  • Analyse data and information related to communicable and non-communicable diseases, identify disease sources, and provide recommendations.
  • Monitor the national burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases through health information systems and research activities.
  • Establish new community outreach activities concerning disease prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Facilitate procurement of safe, efficacious, and affordable medicines and technologies.
  • Advocate and build partnerships to enhance collaboration and mobilize resources for disease prevention and control.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • University degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine, or statistics.
  • At least five years of relevant work experience in disease investigation, surveillance, and control, as well as strategy development and implementation.

Desirable:

  • Training or specialization in communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • Demonstrated professional experience providing technical services to national counterparts and other partners.
