As part of the Sandbox Group portfolio of companies, toucanBox is a subscription club of crafts for children aged 3-8, impacting families across UK and Europe every month. Founded in 2012 with the goal of delivering educational fun to help kids develop important skills and self-sufficiency through hands-on art activities.

What you will be doing:

  • Your main responsibility as product designer will be to ideate and create new arts and crafts projects to add to our portfolio. In this role you will be responsible for your own projects from beginning to end:
  • Ideate: Research, brainstorm & sketch initial ideas to gather feedback from the team.
  • Create: Build physical prototypes, select appropriate materials and suppliers specs.
  • Enhance: Brief the graphic designers about what you need visually and feedback on the designs.
  • Samples: Create ready to print files, request samples, test and improve with suppliers and users.
  • Quote: Collaborate with our suppliers to quote and keep track of the projects you create.
  • Instructions: Create step by step instructions and pass it onto copywriting and graphic design.
  • Delivery: Work closely with our Operations team to guarantee the orders, quality of the materials and on time delivery.
  • You will also need to understand our portfolio of products to propose improvements and come up with creative ideas on how to use stock.
  • Read and understand customers' feedback to keep improving the deliveries.
  • Adapt, ideate and create products for marketing & sales purposes such as: partnerships, acquisition gifts & products for the online shop.
  • Work closely with other coworkers with good communication skills and working efficiently to meet deadlines.

What you ́ll need to succeed in this role:

  • Passionate about product design, with proven skills at developing products and the ability to work with the design applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc).
  • Project management skills, being a protagonist in the projects you are developing, from beginning to end.
  • Interest in arts and crafts, and children's products and activities.
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration. Willing to get out of your comfort zone and gaining new experiences.
  • A highly-organized person, who is not afraid of hands-on projects, and can produce quick designs, execute a vision with creativity and style, and take feedback constructively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
