Technical Lead / Senior Developer – Web-Based Marketplace Development

Padova Consulting is seeking a Technical Lead / Senior Developer to join our proposal team for a digital marketplace initiative aimed at enhancing market access, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship for MSMEs and community groups in Afghanistan.

The project will develop a mobile-first, low-bandwidth-compatible e-commerce platform that connects small businesses to markets and integrates tools for financial literacy and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities


• Lead the design, architecture, and full-stack development of the digital marketplace platform.


• Ensure mobile-first design and smooth performance in low-connectivity environments.


• Develop and integrate e-commerce functionalities including product listings, cart, checkout, order tracking, and payment facilitation (Cash on Delivery, mobile money, etc.).


• Implement secure authentication, user management, and data protection measures.


• Integrate training and financial literacy tools within the platform (learning center, record-keeping features).


• Coordinate with the UX/UI Specialist, Project Manager, and Training Team to align technical implementation with user needs.


• Oversee testing, deployment, and post-launch technical support and maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience


• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack web or mobile development.


• Proven track record developing e-commerce platforms or digital marketplaces.


• Strong understanding of low-bandwidth optimization, offline functionality, and user-friendly design for low-literacy contexts.


• Proficiency with modern web frameworks (e.g., React, , Django, Laravel) and database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB).


• Experience integrating payment gateways, security protocols, and API-based architectures.


• Strong coordination and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
