Cinfo, a global organization dedicated to saving lives and protecting rights, seeks an experienced Associate Protection Officer to join its team in Afghanistan. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting newly displaced Afghans and promoting human rights.

Job Description

The Associate Protection Officer will oversee core protection functions such as Reception, Registration, RSD, RST, Complementary Pathways, and provide technical support for national reception and asylum procedures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining awareness of political, social, economic, and cultural developments affecting protection environments and advocating for relevant legal standards and policies.
  • Providing legal guidance and advice to individuals, ensuring proper documentation and liaison with authorities.
  • Ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for protection activities, including registration processes, eligibility assessments, status determination, and individual case management.
  • Managing and coaching national staff in Refugee Status Determination (RSD) and Resettlement (RST) processes, ensuring quality and timely execution.
  • Promoting community-based approaches, risk management, and capacity-building efforts to support institutions, NGOs, and individuals in enhancing national protection and rights advocacy.

This is a unique opportunity to work with the Swiss JPO Programme and contribute to the protection of vulnerable populations in Afghanistan. As part of the programme, the position is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC of the FDFA, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in International Law/International Refugee and Human Rights Law.
  • At least 3 years of experience in refugee protection, internal displacement, human rights, or international humanitarian law.
  • Good knowledge of International Refugee and Human Rights Law and ability to apply relevant legal principles.
  • Field experience, including working directly with communities.
  • Excellent IT skills, including database management and proficiency in English.
