Job Description:
Responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced EMV testing and certification strategies. Supports solution providers (chip, terminal, mobile application developers), acquirers, issuers, and merchant functional and end-to-end testing and certifications. Helps develop and support service providers with certification toolset and processes, leads Discover testing strategies with customization of platforms, tools and processes.
The D-PAS Product Management team within Global Product and Pricing is responsible for developing, managing and implementing critical advanced payment products impacting all businesses in Discover Financial Services. These products are based on complex technologies including EMV and Contactless (i.e. NFC, QR). EMV is a specification for conducting secure transactions between cards with integrated chips (chip cards), POS terminals capable of reading chip cards, issuers and acquirers. The EMV specifications broadly impact the payment ecosystem from card issuing to merchant acquiring, and serve as the baseline technology for other products such as mobile payments. D-PAS is Discover Financial Services' EMV-compliant payment specification.
This position will be responsible for ensuring Discover maintains its market position by streamlining DFS partner and client certifications and therefore enabling the smooth implementation of D-PAS products. The successful candidate will lead a team of subject matter experts on certification processes, platform product development, ensuring programs are optimized across product verticals and that the solutions that are put in place are effective across Discover Global Network including Diners Club International and PULSE. This includes driving strategy and providing thought leadership for the design, development, and rollout of all EMV-related certification automation and outsourcing programs.
This individual will also provide guidance to multiple internal teams that facilitate these certifications, and will be responsible for the overall certification lifecycle. He or she will also have a critical role in representing DFS at major emerging payments industry forums, presenting at conferences, and will need to communicate effectively with the senior leaders of Discover and other organizations. Develops and coaches' teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manage risk within the teams you oversee.
Responsibilities

  • EMV testing and certification: Leading the delivery of new EMV testing and certification capabilities/technology for Discover's contact, contactless and wallet products ensuring global interoperability and improved client experience.
  • Team Management: Managing the team and overseeing the execution of certification of projects for all payment products including collaboration with product providers and service providers.
  • Product Development: Developing requirements and roadmaps for certification platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with internal stakeholders across various departments to provide subject matter expertise and support strategic decision-making.
  • Partnership Management: Maintaining partnerships with key strategic partners, clients and service providers, focusing on leveraging these relationships for roadmap discussions and strategic advantages. Planning and managing Discover's annual partner forums.
  • Process Improvement: Researching and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and automation of certification processes.
  • Risk and Compliance: Identifying, assessing and mitigating risks related to certification processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry compliance standards.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Provide guidance to a product and operational team to achieve results.
  • Skill development: Continously learning and developing new skills through self-learning, training, and industry standards participation, including EMVCo testing standards.
  • Market Understanding: Understanding regional market needs and assessing critical vendors/partners needed for testing and certification.
  • Industry Standards Participation: Representing Discover in industry forums and Acting as an internal and external evangelist for DFS advanced payment products, delivering compelling presentations.
  • Training and Support: Developing and training the team on D-PAS products to support partner and client queries and resolving reported issues with internal SMEs.

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, or related field
  • Experience in EMVCo/Smart Card technology, Payments technology, or relate field
  • Experience in relationship management with external stakeholders. Solid relationship management practices with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in product development
  • In lieu of a degree, experience in EMVCo/Smart Card technology, Payments technology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications
