We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Network Engineer to join our team, providing critical network support for 66 ABG/SC and their customers under Core Services. You will play a vital role in managing and maintaining a high-performance converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure for both classified and unclassified environments, ensuring high availability and DoD compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Engineering & OperationsDesign and Implement: Independently design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, leveraging the latest networking technologies to meet short deadlines and project requirements.
Maintenance & Upgrades: Perform daily operational support and execute ongoing network upgrade projects, including the design and integration of new network segments into the existing architecture.
System Administration: Provide continuous operational support for network components, including routers, switches, IP Address Management (IPAM), and network management tools.
Performance & Optimization: Participate in the maintenance, optimization, and performance tuning of the entire enterprise infrastructure.
Vendor Management: Interface with third-party vendors to manage warranty claims, hardware/software upgrades, and technology updates.
- DoD Compliance: Actively assist in securing all network systems to meet applicable DoD, Air Force (AF), and DISA compliance directives.
- Documentation: Maintain meticulous and detailed record-keeping, ensuring adherence to locally established military processes and external DoD agency guidelines.
- Mapping: Update and maintain accurate network topology maps for both classified and unclassified networks using tools like Visio.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex data troubles and lead the resolution of network issues, applying strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Ticket Management: Open, route, and manage trouble tickets, handling customer support cases and coordinating with third-party subject matter experts through Tier 3 contracted support to ensure proper and timely resolution.
Research & Solutions: Research complex technical issues and develop effective solutions, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
On-Call Support: Provide 24/7 emergency operational support on an as-needed basis, responding to all contractual needs. Weekend work may be required based on project or issue demands.
- Core Networking: Must have hands-on experience in the design, configuration, and installation of the Cisco/Juniper product line of routers and switches.
L2/L3 & VoIP: Strong working knowledge and excellent troubleshooting skills for Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols in a demanding VoIP environment.
Network Tools: Proficient working knowledge of network management tools, including SolarWinds Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE, and Wireshark.
Network Services: Required working knowledge of IP Address Management (IPAM), DHCP, Syslog, and DNS.
Hardware: Proficient with network hardware, related software, and knowledge of UPS systems.
Cabling: Good understanding of network cabling, including Fiber, CAT5E, and CAT6.
Clearance: Must possess an active Secret level DoD Security Clearance.
Experience/Education: Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related field plus 3+ years of experience in a Network role. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
Certifications (Required): Current CompTIA Security + certification is mandatory.
Certifications (Plus): CCNA certification is a strong plus.
Operating Systems (Plus): Knowledge of W2K12/W2K16/IIS is an added bonus.
Troubleshooting: Must possess strong critical thinking skills for problem identification and resolution.
Communication: Strong written, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
Customer Service: Proven strong customer service skills.
Availability: Must be flexible with working hours and available for 24/7 support as required.
