ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the organization, packaging, utilization, and dissemination of relevant information to inform programme design, implementation, and presentation to external audiences.
Support the external reporting requirements of the country office, inclusive of donor proposal and reports, presentations, internal and external SitReps, as well as operational dashboards.
Coordinate the internal reporting requirements of the Country Office, inclusive of monthly Country Briefs, Topic/OED Briefs, Daily Operational Briefs, and other Adhoc briefing materials as required.
Support the preparation of the WFP Annual Country Report in collaboration with all relevant units and ensure coherence and quality of information.
Map and update, as required, information flows and requirements within the CO and between the CO, AOs and FOs; between the CO, RB, and HQ; and from the CO to external audiences.
Strengthen the reporting capacity of other functional units to improve the quality and presentation of operational information to Senior Management.
Define OIM and Reporting process flows to ensure a common understanding, agreement, and prioritisation across cross function units and sections.
Strengthen communications, ensuring WFP's achievements, impact, and contributions are effectively shared with donors. This includes content development, storytelling, and visibility strategies to position WFP as a partner of choice.
Production of communication products and materials to support partner commitments and facilitate content gathering missions by liaising with implementing partners and field staff.
In coordination with communication and resource mobilization colleagues, strengthen donor visibility by creating multimedia (video, photography, human interest stories) content for various social media channels and campaigns that promote WFP and donor/partner brands.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
Improved quality and timely completion/submission of internal and external information provision and reporting requirements.
Donor proposals and reports completed on time and up to high quality standards that use robust evidence base to demonstrate WFP's potential or real impact achieved through its programming.
Internal reporting requirements – inclusive of monthly Country Briefs and Adhoc briefing materials – well coordinated, delivered on time, and up to high quality standards.
Existing and required information flows within the Afghanistan CO mapped and gaps clearly identified.
Design and implement an incident notification, tracking, reporting, and management system in coordination with functional units, including Area Offices, Security, Supply Chain, and Programme.
Clear understanding of all units' key information needs, timelines, and the roles and responsibilities in OIM (who, what and when).
WFP Afghanistan staff capacity to fulfil individual responsibilities within the CO OIM framework enhanced.
Timely production of communication products and materials followed up to donor visibility commitments and overall country communications strategy.
High-quality multimedia assets produced, implementing donor visibility plans and ensuring donor logos and branding are respected.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Advanced University degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management or Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Experience:
At least three to five years' or more of post graduate professional experience as an OIM Officer or in a related functional role, with a background in international humanitarian development; at least one year of experience in a similarly complex Country Office or in surge capacity; an in-depth knowledge of WFP processes, systems, and OIM requirements.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate insights to external stakeholders and stakeholders within WFP.
Strong understanding of OIM concepts and principles with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques, and processes.
Strong analytical skills with the abilities to analyse and interpret information and draw out key messages.
Capacity to produce high quality products when working under pressure and with competing deadlines.
Practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds.
High capacity for organization and cross-functional coordination, as well as an ability to work with a high degree of independence in a team environment.
Ability to adjust own communication style to different internal and external audiences and purposes.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop less experienced/more junior staff.
Languages:
Fluency (level C) in English language.
