i-APS Afghanistan is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a 
Data Analyst.

Location:
Kabul, Afghanistan

Type of Contract:
Full-time, onsite

Contract Duration:
6 months, with a high possibility of extension based on funding availability.

The Data Analyst at i-APS will support technical experts and project managers by conducting in-depth data analysis, developing statistical methodologies, ensuring data quality, and designing data visualisation tools. The role requires experience in statistical sampling, data collection, cleaning, visualisation, and reporting, with a strong focus on evaluation studies. The Data Analyst will also contribute to developing internal data management processes and support other initiatives across various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Statistical Analysis & Methodology Development

  • Support the development and design of statistical sampling approaches and methodologies for the projects.
  • Write statistical sampling methodologies and designs for reports and project documentation.
  • Organise, design, and conduct statistical analysis on i-APS datasets, applying meaningful statistical techniques.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new master analysis templates.

Data Management & Processing

  • Lead and participate in designing data flow systems and processes using Google Suite for projects in Afghanistan and other i-APS initiatives.
  • Design project data flow processes and quality assurance methods, monitor data flow for quality assurance, prepare data quality assurance reports and clean and standardise data to ensure consistency.
  • Develop and maintain an internal i-APS Afghanistan statistical library, including documentation of statistical approaches, graphical representations, and step-by-step processes.

Data Collection & Training

  • Prepare training materials in local languages (Dari and Pashto) and provide training on data collection oversight and data collection tools such as KAPsurvey, Kobo Toolbox and Open Data Kit (ODK).
  • Design and implement data collection tools and assessment methodologies, including KAPsurvey.
  • Support field teams in applying standardised data collection methodologies, ensuring quality and consistency.

Data Visualisation & Reporting

  • Contribute to producing high-quality dashboards, charts, graphs, and maps to visualise project-specific and organisation-wide data, using i-APS branding.
  • Support the translation of data from Dari/Pashto to English and vice versa.
  • Support the development and maintenance of project management and data visualisation tools to automate the flow of information from field teams to program managers and clients.
  • Support data analysis, visualisation, and statistical approach documentation.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work proactively with the Data Analysis Unit (DAU) team to share insights, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in the development and revision of data standards and advise on their integration into local systems and processes.
  • Provide technical support to project teams on data management, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in international development, humanitarian aid, or TPM projects.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata, or SPSS).
  • Experience using data collection tools such as Kobo Toolbox and Open Data Kit (ODK).
  • Advanced skills in Google Suite applications (Google Sheets, Google Data Studio/Looker Studio, Google Scripts) (Preferred).
  • Hands-on experience in data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Google Looker Studio) (Preferred).
  • Strong data quality assurance and standardisation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing analytical reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-sectoral environment.
  • Proficiency in English, Dari, and Pashto.
