Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), and the direct supervision of the Programme Support Unit (PSU) Coordinator, and in close coordination with programme managers and relevant units, the Project Development and Reporting Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Support the development of results-based programmes and projects, including concept notes and proposals, in coordination with the CoM, Project Managers, UNCT partners, donors, and government counterparts, ensuring alignment with IOM and donor priorities.
  • Assist in reviewing resource requirements, documenting programmatic needs, gaps, and opportunities, and contributing to the alignment of activities with IOM's global, regional, and country strategies.
  • Support the endorsement and submission process for concept notes and project proposals; assist in drafting donor reports in close collaboration with project teams, ensuring compliance with IOM standards and donor guidelines.
  • Conduct research on potential funding opportunities among government, private sector, and multilateral donors; maintain donor profiles and assist in preparing guidance notes and materials to expand IOM Afghanistan's donor base.
  • Contribute to the preparation of visibility materials, donor briefings, and field visits, in coordination with the Communications and Programme teams.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date project development and donor reporting records, repositories, and tracking tools to support institutional knowledge management.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives related to project development, results-based management (RBM), and donor reporting for staff across the mission.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a graduate programme or have completed a university degree within the last 12 months.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in development of results-based programmes and projects, including concept notes, proposals and reports.
  • Have a working knowledge of English (oral and written); knowledge of Dari or Pashto is an advantage.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to manage data with attention to detail.
  • Motivated to learn and work in a cross-functional humanitarian team.
