Role Description

The
Afghan Notary Public – Translation Management Unit (TMU)
is seeking a
qualified and experienced Freelance Dari English Translator
to support its translation and linguistic operations.

This is a
remote, freelance, project-based role
where the translator will be responsible for producing accurate, high-quality translations between
Dari and English
, ensuring that the original meaning, tone, and intent are preserved. The role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and adherence to confidentiality and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate a variety of materials (legal, technical, administrative, and general content) between
    Dari and English
    with precision and cultural accuracy.
  • Ensure consistency and coherence across all translations, maintaining professional linguistic standards.
  • Perform
    proofreading, editing, and terminology checks
    to guarantee linguistic and stylistic quality.
  • Collaborate with project managers and reviewers remotely to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to
    localization and documentation projects
    for clients in diverse sectors.
  • Maintain strict
    confidentiality
    and data protection for all client materials.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in both Dari and English
    , with strong command of grammar, idiomatic usage, and cultural nuances.
  • Proven experience in
    Dari English translation
    , preferably in legal, technical, or administrative fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver
    accurate and culturally appropriate translations
    under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent
    proofreading, editing, and research skills
    .
  • Familiarity with
    CAT tools
    (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) and standard translation practices is an advantage.
  • Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and time management.
  • Bachelor's degree
    in Translation, Linguistics, English Literature, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience with
    translation agencies, international organizations, or government institutions
    is a strong asset.
