Senior Sales Executive

Lonely Planet's Senior Sales Executive will serve as the lead senior seller, responsible for generating partnerships with clients and agencies to achieve Lonely Planet's digital sales targets and objectives. The Senior Sales Executive is responsible for maintaining relationships and growing strategic business with key travel-endemic clients including but not limited to tourism boards and travel adjacent brands such as cards, airlines and hotels, in addition to proactive lead generation for new business. This role will own those conversations as well as strategic client pitches, proposal responses and conference attendance throughout the year. Sales leaders are responsible for implementing Lonely Planet's global sales strategy in order to align all parties for the purpose of building our business.
The Senior Sales Executive will serve as the main point of contact for assigned accounts through all presale phases of the sales cycle, collaborating with Integrated Marketing, Account Management, Creative and Sales Ops departments where needed. This position has frequent and on-going client communication and plays a central role in helping generate revenue through digital, print, licensing and custom solutions.
This role is remote and UK based with a preference for London.
What You'll Do:
- Create a strategic global sales strategy that includes frequent client and agency touchpoints online and in person, and management of a junior seller to increase brand awareness and perception, resulting in digital partnership opportunities for Lonely Planet.
- Management of designated customer relationships throughout the RFP response process, which includes preparation, revision and ownership of digital/print media plan input within the order management system to be presented to agency and advertiser clients.
- Engage Integrated Marketing and creative teams for creative brainstorming, project creation and delivery to be presented to agency and advertiser clients.
- Maintain accurate pipeline details within the OMS for accurate sales forecasting.
- Ability to work well but also self-sufficient and scrappy across a small team including sales, ad ops, production, pricing and delivery in order to ensure smooth delivery of partnership campaigns.
- Qualify leads and discern real opportunities, identifying appropriate product mix for clients to ensure profitable and high performing campaigns are sold in.
- Cross-media integration, understanding Lonely Planet's key selling propositions and creative process for custom campaigns against all media types from digital to print and mobile.
- Be considerate of the wider Lonely Planet business strategic objectives and look for solutions that will help further these goals and strengthen the partnership team's vision.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in client/agency sales with a proven track record of success.
- Established relationships with top agencies and travel brands (DMOs/CVBs/etc) *Domestic and global relationships preferred.
- High level of customer service and professionalism, and a natural understanding of how to effectively manage client and agency relationships.
- Sound knowledge of the latest trends in the digital advertising industry and associated products & processes.
- Solid understanding of the sales environment including targets and success measures and an appreciation of the pressures and drivers associated with working in sales.
- Exceptional knowledge of Lonely Planet brand, content, products & platforms and the opportunities that exist for Client Solutions.
- Excellent organization skills with real attention to detail.
- Time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple pitches, tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Self-starter attitude with a drive to succeed.
- Work as part of the Lonely Planet community to create a positive, tolerant and harmonious work environment.
- Deal with all staff in a helpful, courteous and respectful manner.
- Communicate ideas which may improve the efficiency, performance or standards of your department and be open to the consideration of new ideas.
- Actively participate in the giving and receiving of constructive feedback to ensure understanding and open team relationships.
Compensation
- Cash Compensation Range: £68, ,000.00K
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience. *The range above is for base salary and will have additional room to add commission on top.
