Job summary

EPD is looking to recruit 15 Social Organizers (10 male and 5 female) to improve community awareness about the Citizen Charter Project, identify boundaries for each Nahia, select and establish CDCs and Gozars, develop the capacity of the CDCs and Gozars to work as active and accountable bodies to represent communities. Moreover, the incumbent will support the community in developing the community development profile, establish sub-committees, facilitating community development plans, and support communities in the identification of needs, priorities and design of sub-project.

Job Description:

The Social Organizer’s duties are as follows:

  • Running Community Mobilization activities and increasing communities awareness about Urban Citizen Charter Project
  • Identifying boundaries of existing or new communities and Gozars using ODK online application
    Facilitate Elections of CDCs and  Gozars.
  • Facilitate capacity building of CDCs and Gozar Assemblies as per CCAP operational manuals
  • Support CDCs to establish Bank Accounts or sub-accounts as well as to create community profiles
  • In joint cooperation with Chief Trainer, facilitate community development plans for five years
  • Facilitate participatory tools to feed into planning and assist CDCs in creating participatory and pro-poor and inclusive Community Development Plans.
  • Support Sub-Committees to do their roles and responsibilities and assist them with self-evaluations
  • build the Capacity of CDCs GA  and all sub-committees to perform their roles and responsibilities in collective collaboration with the Chief Trainer.
  • Establish participatory Monitoring teams
  • Ensure that women are included in all interventions (CDCs, Gozar Assemblies)
  • Support women group to identify their needs and priorities and reflect them both in the development plan as well as in the sub-projects
  • Facilitate the completion of health and education CCAP scorecards,
    run social audit and Community Participatory Monitoring  processes,
  • Monitor the CDC maturity using approved indices,
    Support the CDC/Gozars in the selection of sub-project.
Job Requirements

Education and experience:

  • At least 12th-grade degree or higher. Bachelor of social science will be highly desired.
  • 3-4 years’ similar experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies, or similar organization.
  • Work experience at the grass-root level, Community Mobilization, and Community Development.
  • Work experience with Community Development Councils, Guzars Councils, Mobilization, and Community Development is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with the National Solidarity program/Citizen Charter, Community Governance and Livelihood Project, and community-driven development is highly valuable for the position.

Skills and competencies:

  • Good organizational, communication, interpersonal, and team skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and time management skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto, both written and spoken
  • Familiarity with report writing and planning
  • Honest, proactive, and well mannered.
